The Rat Pack Is Back!, a new book musical by Don Reo and famed singer/actor David Cassidy about the legendary group, is coming to The Supper Club. The show, directed by Cassidy, is scheduled to begin performances on November 17 and will feature Michael Civisca as Frank Sinatra, Julian Rebolledo as Dean, Mark Cohen as Joey, Eric Jordan Young as Sammy Davis Jr. and Cassidy as Bobby Darin.
The Rat Pack Is Back! takes place on one imaginary martini-drenched night December 12, 1961, Sinatra's 46th birthday during which the foursome perform and celebrate on stage in Las Vegas. The songs they are singing are theirs; they include "Luck Be a Lady Tonight," "One for the Road," "Lady is a Tramp," "What Kind of Fool Am I," "Mr. Bo Jangles, "Birth of the Blues," "Volare" and "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You." There for the night is their friend and protégé, Darin, singing some of his big hits such as "Mack the Knife" and "Beyond the Sea."
The Supper Club opened in 1931 as The Edison Ballroom in The Hotel Edison. Over the next decades it featured dancing and performances by the legendary Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton and their Orchestras. It then closed and reopened in 1970 as The Edison Theatre, which housed Oh! Calcutta! for several years. This incarnation of The Supper Club opened in 1991. It was most recently used for a theatrical endeavor when Chef's Theater was there, but that shut down after a flood in May of 2004. Most recently it has been host to a number of concerts.
The Rat Pack Is Back!, which will feature a 15-piece band, is scheduled to officially open on December 12. Food and drink will be available at The Supper Club during the evening.
