Kelli Garner and Ian Somerhalder will join Eddie Kaye Thomas, Eliza Dushku, America Ferrara, Ari Graynor, Logan Marshall-Green and Keith Nobbs in the cast of the upcoming off-Broadway play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. Somerhalder replaces Michael Rady, who departed the production in order to perform a role in a motion picture.
Garner's film credits include Time Share, Bully, Love Liza, Related, Outside, Piggy Banks, The Aviator, The Youth in Us, Thumbsucker and Man of the House. She has also made guest appearances on television shows, including a two-episode stint on Grounded for Life.
Somerhalder's film credits include Life as a House, Changing Hears, The Rules of Attraction, In Enemy Hands and Recess. He notably appeared on the small screen as Hamilton Fleming on Young Americans and Boone Carlyle on Lost.
Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead is an unauthorized parody of the Charlie Brown comic characters. Set approximately 10 years after the events in the 50-year-running comic strip, Dog Sees God begins with Snoopy's death, after which things for the introspective "CB" go downhill. Still trying to understand life's darker meanings, still plagued with his endless identity crisis, CB talks to his gang of friends to find answers to his many questions.
Dog Sees God, directed by Trip Cullman, is scheduled to begin performances at Century Center on December 1 a change from the originally scheduled start date of November 30, and officially open on December 15.
