Latinologues, which had played at various locations throughout the country before hitting New York, is a collection of monologues, performed in English, revealing the Latino experience in America. Topics covered include everything from beauty pageants to immigration. The show was created and written by Rick Najera and stars Najera, Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan and Shirley A. Rumierk.
The show, directed by Cheech Marin, opened on October 13 to mixed reviews. In his Broadway.com Review of the show, William Stevenson wrote: "Broadway is already becoming known for second-rate jukebox musicals such as Good Vibrations and Lennon. Latinologues heralds the arrival of a new, equally dispiriting genre: the second-rate stand-up comedy show. Rick Najera wrote the sketches, which are not only unfunny but also borderline offensive."
