Oliver Platt to Headline Conor McPherson's Shining City at the Biltmore

Oliver Platt will make his Broadway debut in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Conor McPherson's Shining City. The show, directed by Robert Falls, is scheduled to begin previews at the Biltmore Theatre on April 13.

Platt's off-Broadway credits include Urban Blight, Ubu and Twelfth Night in Central Park. The actor recently garnered Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his work on the Showtime series Huff. He has also received an Emmy nomination for his recurring role on The West Wing. His other series credits include Deadline and Queens Supreme. Platt's film credits include Funnybones, Bullworth, Married to the Mob, Working Girl, Flatliners, Postcards from the Edge, Indecent Proposal, The Three Musketeers, A Time to Kill, Doctor Dolittle, Simon Birch, Lake Placid, Don't Say a Word and Pieces of April. He can currently be seen on the big screen in The Ice Harvest.

Shining City focuses on John Platt, a guilt-ridden man who visits a therapist after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. What starts out as an everyday exchange becomes a gripping struggle to survive--a struggle that will change both men for the rest of their lives.

The play, directed by the author, was originally announced for a commercial production this fall. At that time, Stanley Townsend had been cast as John.

Shining City is scheduled to open on the Great White Way on May 3.
