Joseph Brooks' In My Life to Close at B'way's Music Box Theatre on 12/11

In My Life, the Broadway musical written and directed by Joseph Brooks of "You Light Up My Life" fame, will end its critically derided run at the Music Box Theatre on December 11. At the time it closes, the musical will have played 23 previews and 61 performances.

In My Life centers on J.T. Christopher J. Hanke, a musician with Tourette Syndrome, and Jenny Jessica Boevers, a Village Voice employee with relationship phobias, who dive headfirst into an unlikely romance. They soon become actors in a "reality opera" directed by the flamboyant Winston David Turner, who calls the shots from heaven. But when things look too bleak for the young lovers, will God step in and save the day?

The tuner opened on October 20 to mostly negative reviews. In his Broadway.com Review of the production, William Stevenson wrote: "It's hard to describe Joe Brooks' In My Life, except to say that it is undoubtedly the most bizarre, misguided Broadway musical of the millennium. Part love story, part parody, part opera, the schizophrenic show is one of those you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it experiences."

Despite an enormous ad campaign, the show never took off at the box office. Last week the musical made only $124,905.
