"It's an interesting piece, and Conor is a great guy," O'Byrne told Broadway.com.
O'Byrne is currently starring on Broadway in MTC's Doubt, which he will depart this weekend. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the hit show. O'Byrne won a 2004 Tony Award for his featured performance in Frozen also directed by Hughes. He had previously earned Tony nominations for his featured work in The Beauty Queen of Leenane and lead performance in The Lonesome West. He also appeared on the Great White Way in The Sisters Rosensweig. His other Gotham theatrical credits include Hapgood, Seconds Out, Grandchild of Kings, Philadelphia, Here I Come, Playboy of the Western World, A Thousand Hours of Love and Bedbound.
Shining City is scheduled to open on the Great White Way on May 3.
