Nancy Anderson will play the title role in the upcoming York Theatre Company mounting of the Ed Dixon musical Fanny Hill. The show will also feature Patti Allison, David Cromwell, Michael J. Farina, Gina Ferrall, Adam Monley, Tony-nominated actress Emily Skinner, Christianne Tisdale and Tony Yazbeck.
Anderson recently appeared in the national tour of Dr. Dolittle. She has been featured in Broadway productions of A Class Act and Wonderful Town. She twice starred off-Broadway in Jolson & Company, a show that earned her a 2000 Drama Desk Award nomination.
A musical adaptation of John Cleland's novel Fanny Hill: Or Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, the show tells the story of a beautiful but poor country girl Anderson, who travels to London to make her fortune and ends up making a great deal more. In the face of big city trials and tribulations, our indefatigable heroine ends up giving new meaning to the expression "making it" when she becomes the foremost practitioner of the world's oldest profession.
