Ailing Lane Causes Odd Couple to Cancel Jan. 18 Perfs

The January 18 matinee and evening performances of The Odd Couple have been canceled. Star Nathan Lane, who plays Oscar Madison, is suffering from laryngitis. However, the show's limited engagement has now been extended through June 4 with the same cast, including headliners Lane and Matthew Broderick.

Neil Simon's The Odd Couple centers on two mismatched roommates--one sloppy Lane and one neat Broderick--who are arguably the most memorable pair of characters that the successful playwright has ever written.

The production, directed by Joe Mantello, was already sold-out by the time it opened to mixed reviews on October 27. In addition to the two above-the-title stars, the cast includes Rob Bartlett, Peter Frechette, Olivia d'Abo, Mike Starr, Jessica Stone and Lee Wilkof.
