Julia Murney will be the next Elphaba on the Wicked national tour. She is set to begin performances as the green girl on March 8 when the show starts at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, replacing original tour star Stephanie J. Block.
Joining the company with Murney will be Alma Cuervo most recently seen on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin Chicago as The Wizard, K. Todd Freeman Tony Award nominee for The Song of Jacob Zulu as Dr. Dillamond and Jennifer Waldman who appeared in New York in Wicked as Nessarose.
Murney made her Broadway debut earlier this season in Lennon. She is best known for her Drama Desk-nominated turn in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party. Her other New York theatrical credits include A Class Act, Time and Again, Crimes of the Heart, First Lady Suite and Arrangements.
In addition to Block, the tour currently stars Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, David Garrison as The Wizard, Sebastian Arcelus as Fiyero, Jenna Leigh Green as Nessarose, Logan Lipton as Boq and Timothy Britten Parker Dr. Dillamond. Kassebaum, Arcelus and Lipton will remain with the show.
