Argentinean Star Elena Roger to Headline Revival of Evita in the West End

Elena Roger, who is one of the biggest stars in Argentina, will play the title role in the upcoming West End revival of Evita, according to The London Times.

Roger's theatrical credits include Argentinian productions of Jazz, Swing, Tap, El Pelele, Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast and Nine. She also appeared on the small screen in the series Hombres de honor.

Eva Peron captivated a nation by championing the working class, rising from poverty to become one of the richest, most powerful women in the world. Her colorful story comes to life in Evita. The tuner features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Tim Rice.

This production of Evita is being directed by Michael Grandage, choreographed by Rob Ashford and designed by Christoper Oram. The trio previously worked together on the Guys and Dolls revival, which is still playing at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Evita is aiming for a late-May start at the Adelphi Theatre. Philip Quast is reportedly on board to play Juan Peron, President of Argentina and husband to Eva.
