Pedro Pascal Joins Cast of MTC's Based on a Totally True Story

Pedro Pascal will join Carson Elrod, Erik Heger, Kristine Nielsen and Michael Tucker in the upcoming Manhattan Theatre Club mounting of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Based on a Totally True Story. The show, directed by Michael Bush, is scheduled to begin performances at City Center Stage II on March 23.

The play centers on Ethan Keene Elrod, a young playwright and comic book writer who's on the verge of breaking through. When a veteran Hollywood producer Nielsen decides she wants to turn one of his plays into a horror movie, the frenzy that follows forces him to deal with the real drama in his life--his relationships with his boyfriend Pascal and his father Tucker.

Pascal is currently appearing in MTC's Beauty of the Father, which is scheduled to end its run at Stage II on February 19. He received the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award and Garland Award for his portrayal of Phillip in the International City Theater production of Orphans. His other theatrical credits include Lorenzaccio, Gizmo Love, Lobby Hero, American Buffalo, Floating Weeds and Anna and the Tropics.

Based on a Totally True Story is set to officially open on April 11.
