Cherry Jones will reprise her Tony Award-winning performance as Sister Aloysius in John Patrick Shanley's Doubt for the show's national tour. The tour will begin in September, with Jones set to perform for its first six months.
Jones left the Broadway company of Doubt on January 8. Before hitting the road with the drama, she will appear on the Great White Way in Faith Healer, which is scheduled to have a limited engagement at the Booth Theatre from April 18 through July 30. In addition to Doubt, Jones won a Tony Award for her performance in The Heiress. She also received Tony nominations for her work in Our Country's Good and A Moon for the Misbegotten. Other Broadway credits include Imaginary Friends, Major Barbara and Angels in America.
Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt tells the story of a strong-minded woman Jones faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?
