Complete casting and theater information has been announced for Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. Brooks Ashmanskas, Mary Birdsong, Capathia Jenkins and Nicole Parker will join Short in the show, which is set to begin previews at Broadway's Jacobs Theatre on July 22.
Ashmanskas has appeared on the Great White Way in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Dream, Little Me with Short, Gypsy, On the Twentieth Century and The Producers. Birdsong, a regular on Reno 911!, was featured off-Broadway in Adult Entertainment. Jenkins' Broadway credits include The Civil War, The Look of Love and Caroline, or Change. Parker is one of the stars of Mad TV, the sketch comedy show she also helps write.
Conceived by Short, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me features a book by Short and Daniel Goldfarb, music by Shaiman and lyrics by Wittman and Shaiman. In the show, Short guides the audience through an improbable musical version of his life story with the help of his supporting cast. Each cast member plays numerous different roles.
Before Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, the Jacobs Theatre will house Three Days of Rain, which is scheduled to run from March 28 through June 18.
