The Trip to Bountiful Tops 2006 Lucille Lortel Awards

The League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers announced the recipients of the Lucille Lortel Awards on May 1 at New World Stages. Judy Gold and Brian F. O'Byrne hosted the event.

The Signature Theatre Company mounting of Horton Foote's The Trip to the Bountiful topped the pack with four awards, including Outstanding Revival. Other shows to receive multiple awards were The Seven with three and The Lieutenant of Inishmore now on Broadway with two.

The ceremony included tributes to Lifetime Achievement Award winner Wendy Wasserstein who passed away earlier this year, Playwrights' Sidewalk Inductee John Patrick Shanley, Edith Oliver Award for Sustained Excellence recipient Betty Corwin and Outstanding Body of Work winner the Atlantic Theater Company.
