Rashad, Richardson and Schreiber To Announce Tony Nominees

Tony Award winners Phylicia Rashad, Natasha Richardson and Liev Schreiber will be on hand at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts to announce the 2006 Tony Award nominations at 8:30am on Tuesday, May 16.

Rashad won a Tony Award for her performance in A Raisin in the Sun and was most recently seen on the New York stage off-Broadway in Bernarda Alba. Interestingly, Rashad's niece, Vivian Nixon, is eligible to be nominated for a Tony this year for her lead performance in Hot Feet. Richardson, who appeared on Broadway last season in A Streetcar Named Desire, received her Tony Award in 1998 for her performance in Cabaret. Schreiber, soon to headline a mounting of Macbeth in Central Park, won a Tony Award last year for Best Featured Actor in a Play for Glengarry Glen Ross.

The official cut-off for Tony eligibility is May 10. The Tony Awards ceremony will be held on June 11 at Radio City Music Hall.
