Adriane Lenox will reunite with fellow New York Doubt star Cherry Jones for the first three stops of the drama's national tour. Chris McGarry and Lisa Joyce will also appear in the touring production of the John Patrick Shanley play.
Lenox won the Tony, Drama Desk and Lortel Awards for her performance in Doubt in New York. In addition to Doubt, her Broadway credits include Ain't Misbehavin', Dreamgirls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Kiss Me, Kate. Her off-Broadway credits include Miss Evers' Boys, Cavedweller, Spunk, The America Play, The Venus Hottentot, Beehive and Dinah Was.
Joyce, who will play Sister James in Doubt, was recently seen off-Broadway in Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter, after also starring in the play at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater Jeff Award nomination, Best Supporting Actress. Her other credits include Rose of Sharon, The Grapes of Wrath and The Crucible.
Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt tells the story of a strong-minded woman Jones faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues McGarry even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?
Doug Hughes, who won a Tony Award for his direction of Doubt, will repeat his duties for the tour. Jones is scheduled for the first six months. Lenox is only set to appear in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre September 22 - October 29, in San Diego at the Civic Theatre October 31 - November 5 and in San Francisco at the Orpheum Theatre November 7 - December 3.
