Martin McDonagh's Tony-nominated play The Lieutenant of Inishmore will end its Broadway run at the Lyceum Theatre on September 3. At the time of closing, the dark comedy will have played 16 preview and 142 regular performances.
Set on a lonely island, The Lieutenant of Inishmore chronicles the shockingly funny events that come to pass when someone kills Wee Thomas, the beloved cat of an Irish Liberation Army enforcer. It all builds to a stunning surprise that has audiences laughing in disbelief at every performance. The play opened on Broadway on May 3 after an acclaimed run at the Atlantic Theater Company. It was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Play and Best Director, Wilson Milam.
