Best known for playing Davy Jones in the wildly successful Pirates of the Caribbean films including this summer's Dead Man's Chest, Nighy will make his Broadway debut with The Vertical Hour. A veteran British star of the stage and screen, he's been seen in many films including Eye of the Needle, Curse of the Pink Panther, The Little Drummer Girl, Mack the Knife, Antonia and Jane, Being Human, Love Actually, Underworld, Shaun of the Dead, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Girl in the Café and The Constant Gardener. He was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2001 for his performance in Blue/Orange at the Royal National Theatre and also starred in the London productions of Hare's Skylight and Tom Stoppard's Arcadia.
The Vertical Hour centers on Nadia Blye Moore, a young American war correspondent turned academic who now teaches Political Studies at Yale. A brief holiday with her boyfriend Scott in the Welsh borders brings her into contact with a kind of Englishman Nighy whose culture and beliefs are a surprise and a challenge, both to her and to her relationship. Sam Mendes directs the Broadway premiere, which is set to open on November 30.
