Broadway Grosses: Three Shows Take Final Bows

A trio of well-received Broadway shows closed their doors on September 3, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Sweeney Todd and The Lieutenant of Inishmore. All three experienced an end-of-run box office pop, with Sweeney filling the Eugene O'Neill Theatre to 84.30% capacity, Scoundrels pulling in 80.60% at the Imperial and Inishmore 73% at the Lyceum. The Imperial will soon be home to High Fidelity, opening December 7, and Spring Awakening will open December 10 at the O'Neill. No new tenant has been announced for the Lyceum. In other box-office news, pop star Usher continued to give Chicago a lift, filling the Ambassador Theatre to 95.30% capacity, and Jersey Boys broke the box office record at the August Wilson Theatre for the fifth week in a row, taking in $1,149,155.
