Jim Stanek will replace his fellow Lestat cast member Drew Sarich in the hit off-Broadway revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, beginning October 9 at the Zipper Theatre. Sarich is leaving to join the ensemble of the forthcoming Broadway revival of Les Miserables.
Stanek's Broadway credits include Lestat, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum, The Rivals, Little Women and Indiscretions. He has appeared off-Broadway in Slut, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and Captains Courageous and regionally in My Fair Lady McCarter, The Threepenny Opera Williamstown, 3hree Musketeers San Jose and Thoroughly Modern Millie La Jolla. Film and television credits include Borough of Kings, Adversaries NBC pilot and Guiding Light.
With a cast of four actors and three musicians, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Living in Paris transforms Brel's musical compositions into a timeless theatrical experience that examines themes of love, war, adventure, broken dreams, growing old and death, all performed with passion and humor. The original show opened in 1968 at The Village Gate in Greenwich Village and ran for more than four years. The current revival, directed by Gordon Greenberg, began performances at the Zipper on March 5.
Continuing in the cast of Jacques Brel are Robert Cuccioli, Natascia Diaz and Gay Marshall.
