As Dan Fogler was facing off-Broadway critics in The Voyage of the Carcass, the writing team behind the Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Aniston comedy The Break-Up announced that they will write and direct The Golden Tux, a star vehicle for Fogler, according to Variety.
In The Golden Tux, Fogler will play a charismatic guy who makes his living as a professional best man and is hired by a lonely guy to make his wedding day one to remember. Break-Up writers Jay Lavender and Jeremy Garelick will make their feature film directing debut and executive produce the comedy. Todd Phillips, who directed the current release School for Scoundrels, in which Fogler plays a supporting role, will produce.
Meanwhile, at the SoHo Playhouse, The Voyage of the Carcass is scheduled to continue performances through November 12. Anne Midgette of The New York Times gave the play itself a negative review but said of Fogler, "He is a positively vaudevillian performer: a large but light-footed man with a rubbery face, now declaiming in a roar, now mugging in a mischievous stage whisper."
