Tony Award-winning actor Richard Easton collapsed during the October 18 performance of The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre. It was the second preview of "Voyage," the first of Tom Stoppard's three-part epic set in 19th century Russia. The performance was suspended, and Easton was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for tests. As of the morning of October 19, he was in stable condition, alert and talking, according to a production spokesperson.
Easton's understudy, David Manis, will be playing the role of Alexander Bakunin in The Coast of Utopia, until Easton can return. Audience members who had tickets for the October 18 performance can get a refund or exchange their tickets for another performance by going to the point of purchase.
