The off-Broadway production of My Name Is Rachel Corrie will extend its run through December 30 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, according to producers Dena Hammerstein and Pam Pariseau. The play opened on October 15 and had announced a limited run through November 19.
Originally produced at London's Royal Court Theatre in April 2005, My Name Is Rachel Corrie was compiled by Alan Rickman who also directed and Katharine Viner from the diaries, letters and e-mails of American activist Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old protester who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer in Gaza in March 2003. The play traces the life of Corrie from her early days in Washington State through her experiences as an activist seeking to learn more about the Palestinian community in Gaza. Megan Dodds, who created the role in London, stars in the off-Broadway mounting.
