Jayne Houdyshell Set as Wicked's Next Madame Morrible, Starting 11/14

2006 Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell has signed on to play Wicked's Madame Morrible starting November 14. She will replace Carol Kane, who will play Morrible when the show lands at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles in February 2007.

Houdyshell received her first Tony Award nomination for her work as Lisa Kron's mother in Well, a role which also won her a Theatre World Award, an Obie Award and Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Award nominations. She recently appeared in The Pain and the Itch at Playwrights Horizons. Other New York credits include Much Ado About Nothing at the New York Shakespeare Festival, Fighting Words at Playwrights Horizons, True Love at the Zipper Theatre and Attempts on Her Life at SoHo Rep.

Wicked currently also stars Ana Gasteyer Elphaba, Kate Reinders Glinda, David Garrison The Wizard, Derrick Williams Fiyero, Jenna Leigh Green Nessarose, Logan Lipton Boq and Steven Skybell Dr. Dillamond.
