Steve Kazee, last seen on Broadway in Spamalot, will star alongside four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald as Starbuck in this spring's revival of 110 in the Shade. The Roundabout Theatre Company presents the limited engagement from April 13, 2007 through July 15, 2007, with the official opening night set for May 9 at Studio 54.
Kazee played Sir Lancelot in Spamalot and was an understudy in the recent revival of Edward Albee's Seascape. He also appeared in The Public Theatre's As You Like It and at the Kennedy Center in The Subject Was Roses.
In 110 in the Shade, the mercurial Starbuck promises rain for a drought-stricken town and passion for the stalwart, but resigned, Lizzie McDonald. The show features music by Harvey Schmidt, lyrics by Tom Jones and a book by N. Richard Nash based on Nash's The Rainmaker, and will be directed by Lonny Price. Songs include "Love, Don't Turn Away" and "Melisande."
Next up at Studio 54, running from November 28, 2006 to March 11, 2007 is The Apple Tree, starring Kristin Chenoweth, Brian D'Arcy James and Marc Kudisch.
