Mazzie and Hadary to Host 2006 Gypsy of the Year Competition

Spamalot stars Marin Mazzie and Jonathan Hadary will host the 18th annual Gypsy of the Year competition, to be held December 4 and 5 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Mazzie Kiss Me, Kate, Ragtime, Passion recently returned to Broadway as the Lady of the Lake opposite Hadary Awake and Song! Gypsy, All Shook Up as King Arthur in the Monty Python-based musical.

The yearly Gypsy of the Year competition/variety show is the culmination of six weeks of intensive fundraising, when shows on and off-Broadway engage in friendly competition to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Awards are presented to the companies that raise the most money and for the winning presentation. Judges will include actresses Jill Clayburgh currently appearing in The Clean House and Marian Seldes coming to Broadway next spring in Deuce and choreographer Christopher Gattelli High Fidelity.
