Wicked will welcome three new leads to the Broadway production on January 9, 2007. Julia Murney is set to star as Elphaba, Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda and Sebastian Arcelus as Fiyero. All three have played their respective roles on the national tour of this smash-hit musical, currently playing to sold-out houses at the Gershwin Theatre.
Murney made her Broadway debut in 2005 in Lennon. She is best known for her Drama Desk-nominated turn in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party. Her other New York theatrical credits include A Class Act, Time and Again, Crimes of the Heart, First Lady Suite and Arrangements.
Kassebaum has appeared on Broadway in Assassins and Rent and on tour in A Chorus Line and Grease.
Arcelus recently appeared on Broadway as Jan in Good Vibrations and as Roger Davis in Rent. Other credits include The Full Monty, Hamlet-A Rock Opera, Caligula, Aida, Floyd Collins and Songs of Innocence and Experience.
Departing Wicked stars Ana Gasteyer Elphaba, Kate Reinders Glinda and Derrick Williams Fiyero will play their final performances on January 7. Wicked also currently stars David Garrison the Wizard and Jayne Houdyshell Madame Morrible, Jenna Leigh Green Nessarose, Logan Lipton Boq and Steven Skybell Dr. Dillamond.
