Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the full company of its forthcoming Broadway production of 110 in the Shade at Studio 54. Directed by Lonny Price, the musical will begin previews on April 13 and open on May 9 in a limited engagement scheduled to run through July 15.
Joining the previously announced Audra McDonald Lizzie Curry, John Cullum H. C. Curry and Steve Kazee Starbuck will be Chris Butler Noah, Carla Duren Snookie, Christopher Innvar File and Bobby Steggert Jimmy. The ensemble and swings include Elisa Van Duyne, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Valisia Lekae Little, Darius Nichols, Mamie Parris, Devin Richards, Michael Scott, Will Swenson, Matt Wall and Betsy Wolfe.
Based on N. Richard Nash's The Rainmaker, 110 in the Shade features a book by Nash, music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. It premiered on Broadway on October 24, 1963, at the Broadhurst Theatre. The original Broadway production of The Rainmaker premiered on October 28, 1954, and was subsequently produced by Roundabout in 1999 starring Woody Harrelson and Jayne Atkinson.
Butler is making his Broadway debut in 110 In The Shade. Regional credits include Yellowman, for which he received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Lead Performance, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Worksong: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright, McReele, Blue, A Raisin in the Sun, The Piano Lesson, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, among many others.
Duren was part of the original Las Vegas cast of Hairspray. New York workshops include 110 in the Shade, Radiant Baby and Joe Fearless.
Innvar's Broadway credits include The Threepenny Opera, Les Miserables and Victor/Victoria. Off-Broadway credits include Time and Again, Floyd Collins, Gun-Shy, A New Brain and The Chemistry of Change.
Steggert's Broadway credits include Master Harold…and the Boys and A Christmas Carol. Off-Broadway credits include columbinus and The Music Teacher.
The Roundabout's production of 110 in the Shade will feature choreography by Dan Knechtges, musical direction by Paul Gemignani and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. The design team includes Santo Loquasto sets and costumes, Christopher Akerlind lights and Dan Moses Schreier sound.
