The Cherry Lane Theatre has announced a two-week extension of Amiri Baraka's Dutchman, starring Dule Hill and Jennifer Mudge and directed by Bill Duke. The play was originally set to close on February 10 but will now run through February 24 due to glowing reviews and popular demand.
The shocking, classic race drama Dutchman returns to the place where it all began in 1964 at the Cherry Lane Theatre. In Amiri Baraka's Obie Award-winning last play written under the name LeRoi Jones, a white woman seduces a naive, bourgeois black man on a subway train with terrifying results. The themes and issues of this play are just as relevant today as the day it premiered, if not more.
Mudge appeared in the off-Broadway production of Terrence McNally's The Stendhal Syndrome and was an understudy in the Broadway production of Reckless. Her TV credits include episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Hope &Faith.
