Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn will be the next tenant at off-Broadway's intimate Zipper Theatre, where Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris closes February 25. The musical revue will start performances April 6.
A tribute to the work of Broadway songwriter Finn, Make Me a Song started life at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut last summer. Concieved and directed by Associate Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero, it starred Sandy Binion, Joe Cassidy, Adam Heller and Sally Wilfert. All four actors will reprise their roles for the off-Broadway production.
Finn won Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical for Falsettos, the Broadway musical which combined the off-Broadway shows March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland into one evening. He also wrote songs for the off-Broadway shows In Trousers, American Kicks Up Its Heels, Romance in Hard Times, A New Brain and the current Broadway hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
