Max Crumm and Laura Osnes were announced on March 25 as the winners of the leading roles in the upcoming Broadway revival of Grease. The Broadway newcomers learned they won the roles of Danny and Sandy on the live finale broadcast of NBC's reality show You're the One That I Want, beating out fellow finalists Austin Miller and Ashley Spencer.
Crumm, who is 21, hails from Ahwatukee Foothills, Arizona, where he appeared in many regional theater productions. At the Valley Youth Theatre, he starred in two different productions of Grease, playing Doody one time and Kenickie the other. He also appeared in The Wizard of Oz as The Wizard and Titanic as Henry Etches at the theater. At the Desert Stages Theatre, he starred as the Grinch in The Grinch and Linus in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Other Arizona productions include A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Sound of Music, Into the Woods, Hello Dolly and Damn Yankees. Crumm moved to Los Angeles three years ago, where he has appeared in American Academy of Dramatic Arts productions of Beyond Therapy, P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, Once in a Lifetime and The Prisoner of Second Avenue.
Grease is set to start performances on Broadway on July 24 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and open on August 19.
