As the Four Seasons did four decades ago, the Jersey Boys are headed for Las Vegas. The Tony Award-winning musical will open at the new Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino in early 2008.
"We are confident that visitors from all over the world will come to see what is currently the hottest ticket on Broadway," Rob Goldstein, president of The Venetian and The Palazzo, said in a statement. "The spectacular musical is the type of entertainment that has become the hallmark of The Venetian," currently home of a shortened version of The Phantom of the Opera.
Jersey Boys follows the rags-to-riches tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons as they work their way from the streets of Newark to the heights of stardom, and features such hits as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Oh, What a Night" and many more. The Broadway creative team, including director Des McAnuff, choreographer Sergio Trujillo, authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and the Four Seasons, will be directly involved in the Las Vegas production.
"BASE Entertainment and our producing partners Michael David and The Dodgers are extremely excited to be bringing this smash hit to what we expect will be the most luxurious resort in Las Vegas," producer Scott Zeiger said in a statement. "The state-of-the-art theater housing this production will serve as a perfect setting."
The Palazzo is a stand-alone resort currently being built by Las Vegas Sands Corp. in the heart of the famed Las Vegas Strip. When combined with the neighboring Venetian and Sands Expo and Convention Center, The Palazzo will give the company the largest hotel and convention complex in the world. In addition to Jersey Boys, the $1.8 billion Palazzo will feature more than 3,000 all-suite rooms and offer shopping, dining including 14 new restaurants and entertainment on two luxurious levels.
