Tony Award winner Faith Prince will return to Broadway to co-star with Harvey Fierstein in A Catered Affair, a new musical with book by Fierstein, music by John Bucchino and directed by John Doyle. A Catered Affair will open at a Jujamcyn theater exact venue to be announced in Spring 2008. Prior to Broadway, the new musical will inaugurate the 2007-2008 season at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre beginning September 20.
In A Catered Affair, Prince will star as Aggie Hurley, the mother of the bride at a family wedding set in 1953 Bronx. As previously announced, Fierstein will portray her brother Winston. The musical reveals relationships strained to their limits when a couple must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair.
A Catered Affair will be produced on Broadway by Jujamcyn Theaters, Harvey Entertainment/Ron Fierstein and Richie Jackson. The musical is based on the 1956 feature film written by Gore Vidal, with an original teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky. The complete cast and design team will be announced shortly.
