In spite of receiving some of the season's most glowing reviews, the Broadway revival of R. C. Sherriff's World War I drama Journey's End has set a June 10 closing date. The production, directed by David Grindley, will have played 15 previews and 125 regular performances upon closing. It began previews at the Belasco Theatre on February 8 and opened on February 22.
After winning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Revival, Journey's End received six 2007 Tony nominations, including Best Revival, Best Director, Best Actor in a Play three-time Tony winner Boyd Gaines and Best Featured Actor in a Play Stark Sands. The production also featured Tony winner Jefferson Mays and Hugh Dancy as Captain Stanhope, the commander of a group of British officers awaiting their day of reckoning in a trench in France on the eve of a major battle.
