LAByrinth Theater Company will present new plays by Bob Glaudini and Brett C. Leonard as part of its 16th season, once again in residence at The Public Theater. The off-Broadway company's 2007-2008 season will also include two developmental productions and LAByrinth's free play reading festival, The Barn Series.
In Glaudini's A View from 151st Street, cops, rappers, dealers, teachers, hustlers, husbands and wives dwell in the rhythms of rap, raw humor, aphasic staccato and live jazz. After the success of Jack Goes Boating, LAByrinth reunites Glaudini and director Peter DuBois for another world premiere set for production in fall 2007. LAByrinth previously produced Glaudini's Dutch Heart of Man during its 2003-04 season.
Two developmental productions are planned for spring 2008: Rebecca Cohen's Penalties & Interest, a dark comedy about office life directed by John Gould Rubin; and Scott Hudson's Sweet Storm, a story of young lovers to be directed by Padraic Lillis. The Barn Series, LAByrinth's annual collection of free staged readings, will be held in December 2007. The company is led by artistic directors Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz, both of whom appeared in Jack Goes Boating.
