Tony Award nominee Lois Smith The Trip to Bountiful, The Grapes of Wrath and Tony winner Cady Huffman The Producers will lead the company in the world premiere of David Epstein's Surface to Air, which is set for a three-week run at Symphony Space as part of the theater's annual Summer Stock on Broadway series. The play, directed by James Naughton, will run from July 11 - August 5, with a July 18 opening night. Joining Smith and Huffman are Bruce Altman, Tony nominee Larry Bryggman King Lear, Twelve Angry Men, James Colby, Marisa Echeverría and Mark J. Sullivan.
Surface to Air is the story of a family forced to confront long-repressed issues and current realities when the remains of their son are returned to them 30 years after his plane was shot down over Vietnam.
Naughton has won Tony Awards for his starring roles on Broadway in City of Angels and Chicago and a MAC Award for his one-man show James Naughton: Street of Dreams. He directed the Broadway revivals of Our Town and The Price and has worked often at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
