Playwrights Horizons will extend its sold-out production of A.R. Gurney's Crazy Mary, adding six performances that will begin the weekend after the original closing date of June 17. The unusual extension dates starting on June 23 and playing through June 26, including a Monday night performance on June 25 reflect leading lady Sigourney Weaver working out time between film commitments to add additional performances. This is the only extension possible.
Crazy Mary began previews on May 11 and opened officially on June 3, directed by Weaver's husband, Jim Simpson, who collaborated with her and playwright Gurney on Mrs. Farnsworth. Appearing in the title role is two-time Obie Award winner Kristine Nielsen; their co-stars include Michael Esper, Mitchell Greenberg and Myra Lucretia Taylor.
