Tony Award winner Mary Louise Wilson has set at July 29 departure date from the Broadway production of Grey Gardens. Wilson has played Edith Bouvier "Big Edie" Beale in the musical's second act since its first workshop in late 2004 at The Sundance Institute. No replacement has been announced, although a news release said the role will be filled "imminently."
Grey Gardens will continue as an open-ended run at the Water Kerr Theatre, starring Christine Ebersole in her Tony-winning dual performance as Edith Bouvier Beale in Act One and Little Edie Beale in Act Two. According to the release, Ebersole will remain with Grey Gardens for the run of her contract, which goes into the fall. After that time, as previously announced, she will star in the London production during the 2007-2008 season. London partners, dates and additional casting will be announced in the coming months. The musical's producers are also in talks to present the show across the country.
