Bass rose to fame as one fifth of the hugely popular group, 'N Sync, which holds the title for fastest-selling album of all time for "No Strings Attached." He starred in the 2001 film On the Line and will be seen in the upcoming movie, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Bass made headlines in 2006 when he revealed that he is gay with a cover story in People magazine, and is currently at work on an autobiography about his life in the public eye.
The film version of Hairspray, which is already garnering big buzz, hits movie theaters on July 20 and stars John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Amanda Bynes, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah, Zac Efron and newcomer Nikki Blonsky.
Just after the film's premiere, Bass will join the Broadway company, which features Shannon Durig as Tracy Turnblad, Paul Vogt as Edna Turnblad, Jerry Mathers as Wilbur Turnblad, Ashley Parker Angel as Link Larkin, Alexa Vega as Penny Pingleton, Tevin Campbell as Seaweed J.
