The producers of In the Heights Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller and Jill Furman have announced details of the show's Broadway transfer. The musical will begin previews on February 14, 2008, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre recently vacated by Disney's Tarzan and open March 9, directed by Thomas Kail. Composer Lin-Manuel Miranda will again play the central role of Usnavi; full casting for the Broadway production will be announced shortly.

The off-Broadway production of In the Heights opened on February 8 at the 37 Arts Theatre and closed on July 15 after 33 previews and 182 regular performances. Featuring music and lyrics by Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the show won the 2007 Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Broadway.com Audience Awards for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Andy Blankenbuehler's choreography.
The Broadway production of In the Heights will feature scenic design by Anna Louizos, costumes by Paul Tazewell and lighting by Howell Binkley.
