The Roundabout Theatre Company's forthcoming Broadway production of Sunday in the Park with George has shifted its opening date by one week, to February 21, 2008, according to a production spokesperson. The show had originally announced a February 14 opening. Previews will begin at Studio 54 on January 18, directed by Sam Buntrock.
Olivier Award winners Daniel Evans George and Jenna Russell Dot will reprise their roles in the Menier Chocolate Factory's Olivier Award-winning production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. Inspired by the Georges Seurat painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," Sunday in the Park with George celebrates the art of creation and the creation of art. The first half, set in 1884, sees the painting come to life. The second act, set in 1980s New York, presents the great grandson of Georges and his search for inspiration in the world of contemporary art.
