Tracy Letts' play August: Osage County, a summer hit at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, is coming to Broadway this fall. The play, featuring most of the original cast members, will begin previews at the Imperial Theatre on October 30 and open on November 20, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. A 16-week limited engagement is planned.
The ensemble cast includes Steppenwolf members Ian Barford Little Voice, Francis Guinan Constantine, Mariann Mayberry, Amy Morton One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Sally Murphy Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof and Carousel, Jeff Perry Grey's Anatomy, The Caretaker, Rondi Reed Little Voice, plus Deanna Dunagan Bounce, I Never Sang for My Father, Kimberly Guerrero The Sopranos, Seinfeld, the playwright's father Dennis Letts Infamous, Cast Away and Troy West Picasso at the Lapin Agile.
August: Osage County, which will be produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler and Jerry Frankel, has a capitalization of $2.4 million. The next big tenant announced for the Imperial Theatre is the musical Billy Elliot, coming in the fall of 2008.
