Steve Blanchard will play the monster and Christiane Noll has been cast as Dr. Frankenstein's wife, Elizabeth, in the forthcoming off-Broadway musical Frankenstein, joining the previously announced Hunter Foster as Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The show, a more serious musical retelling of Mary Shelley's epic story than the Broadway-bound Young Frankenstein, will begin performances at 37 Arts on October 10 and open on November 1, directed by Bill Fennelly.
The company will also feature Jim Stanek Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Lestat, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change as Henry and Mandy Bruno Les Miserables, Guiding Light as Justine. The ensemble includes Nick Cartell, Struan Erlenborn, Eric Michael Gillette and Aaron Seretosky.
Blanchard recently ended his long run as the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. His other Broadway credits include Camelot and The Three Musketeers, and he starred in A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden. Off-Broadway, he played the title role in Johnny Guitar.
Noll most recently played one of the witches in the Signature Theater of Virginia's production of The Witches of Eastwick. She starred in Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway and also appeared in It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues. National tours include Urinetown, Miss Saigon and City of Angels.
Frankenstein is being produced by Gerald Goehring, Douglas C. Evans and Michael F. Mitri in association with Barbara & Emery Olcott and David S. Stone.
