Roundabout Theatre Company has announced a one-week extension of its production of Terrence McNally's The Ritz. Directed by Joe Mantello, the revival will now play through December 9 at Studio 54.
The Ritz opened officially on October 11, starring Rosie Perez as Googie Gomez and Kevin Chamberlin as Gaetano Proclo. The play tells the farcical story of Proclo's attempts to hide out at the Ritz from his mobster in-law Carmine Vespucci. When Gaetano realizes the Ritz is a gay bathhouse and not a Turkish bath, he pretends to be a big-time Broadway producer to keep suspicions low. When Carmine locates Gaetano, manic mayhem ensues.
