Before off-Broadway performances begin, Epic Theatre Ensemble has announced a one week extension for the U.S. premiere of Howard Barker's A Hard Heart, through December 9. The production will begin previews at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row on October 30 and open on November 11, directed by Will Pomerantz.
As previously announced, the cast of A Hard Heart includes Kathleen Chalfant, Melissa Friedman, Dion Graham, Alex Organ, Thom Sesma, James Wallert and Sarah Winkler.
Written before 9/11, the Patriot Act and the current immigration debate, A Hard Heart explores the ways we protect our political and human borders. Barker's prophetic drama imagines a country facing invasion. Praxis the Queen Friedman enlists the Genius Riddler Chalfant to devise a strategy to protect their threatened culture, but is the sacrifice too much?
In conjunction with A Hard Heart, Epic has announced that post-show forums will follow every performance featuring former Senator Robert Kerrey, Eve Ensler, Grandmothers Against the War, Chris Hedges and many others.
