Three veterans of the Broadway company of Chicago are headed back to play leading roles in the show beginning January 14. Bianca Marroquin returns as Roxie Hart, Rob Bartlett will play Amos Hart and Roz Ryan is back as Matron "Mama" Morton. Brenda Braxton continues as Velma Kelly, alongside the previously announced John Schneider, who will make his Chicago debut as Billy Flynn. Through January 13, the cast of Chicago includes Michelle DeJean as Roxie, Jeff McCarthy as Billy, Vincent Pastore as Amos and Aida Turturro as Mama Morton.
The current production of Chicago opened on Broadway on November 14, 1996, directed by Walter Bobbie. It won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, and has been reproduced around the world. An upcoming production is slated for Korea, and a Japanese language production is scheduled for Japan in 2008.
