Alan Palmer's Fabulous Divas of Broadway Next Up at St. Luke's Theatre

The new musical Alan Palmer's Fabulous Divas of Broadway is set for an open-ended run at off-Broadway's St. Luke's Theatre. Written and directed by Palmer, the show willl begin previews on February 13 and open on February 27.

Alan Palmer's Fabulous Divas of Broadway is described as a musical journey charting one man's love of the theater and the amazing ladies that inspired him along the way. Palmer portrays 18 stars of the stage in rapid succession—and a non-stop turnover of gorgeous costumes—bringing to life such legends as Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, Judy Garland and Chita Rivera and such Tony-winning stars of today as Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth and Beth Leavel. Performing 25 songs in each lady's singular style, he weaves together reminiscences of growing up in a small town obsessed with musical cast albums, auditioning for shows in New York City, performing during onstage and backstage mishaps, raising his young son and interacting with many of the ladies represented in the show.

Palmer's show ran for five months at Open Stage West in Los Angeles, where he is based as a director/choreographer. His credits include the 50th anniversary production of Oklahoma! for Broadway-Grand Opera, the West Coast premiere of the musical It's a Wonderful Life, L.A. productions of Inaccurate Information and Nunsense A-Men and tours of Forever Plaid, An Evening of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Godspell. As a performer, his New York credits include The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber with Michael Crawford and the off-Broadway shows Bernie's Bar Mitzvah and Making Waves.

The production features scenic design by Jessa Orr, costume design by C. Bucky and lighting design by Peter Ray. Palmer is accompanied onstage by Curtis Jerome. Alan Palmer's Fabulous Divas of Broadway is being produced by Berlique.
