Aidan Quinn will complete the cast of the Public Theater's forthcoming production of Richard Nelson's Conversations in Tusculum. The play will begin previews on February 19 and open on March 11, directed by the playwright. The production's limited run will continue through March 23.
Quinn will play Brutus alongside previously announced stars Brian Dennehy as Cicero, Joe Grifasi as Syrus, Gloria Reuben as Porcia, David Strathairn as Cassius and Maria Tucci as Servilia.
Conversations in Tusculum is described as a history play that chonicles those entangles in Julius Caesar's world of manipulation and power, set outside Rome in the villas and hillsides of Tusculum. The country you love and the values it represents are being destroyed by a misguided leader. You can continue to live in relative comfort by not involving yourself, or you can take action to save the democracy you love.
Quinn played Stanley opposite Blythe Danner's Blanche on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire and appeared off-Broadway in Fool for Love, A Lie of the Mind, The Exonerated and Salome. Quinn's TV credits include An Early Frost, for which he received an Emmy nomination, and HBO's Empire Falls and Perfect Witness, as well as The Book of Daniel, A Private Matter, The Two of Us, Plainsong and See You in My Dreams. His film credits include Dark Matter, 32A, Reckless, Desperately Seeking Susan, Stakeout, The Playboys, Benny and Joon, Avalon, The Mission, Blink, Legends of the Fall, Michael Collins, Looking for Richard, The Assignment, Music of the Heart, Nine Lives, Practical Magic, Songcatcher and Cavedweller.
