Kecia Lewis-Evans and Jeff McCarthy will join the Broadway company of Chicago on March 18 as Matron "Mama" Morton and Billy Flynn, respectively, for an 11-week run. Both actors have signed on through June 1 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Lewis-Evans was most recently seen on Broadway as Trix the high-flying aviator in The Drowsy Chaperone and will originate the role of the Dragon in the forthcoming Broadway musical Shrek. Her other Broadway credits include Once on This Island, Ain't Misbehavin', Big River, The Gospel at Colonus and Dreamgirls. Off-Broadway credits include Dessa Rose, From the Mississippi Delta and Once on This Island.
McCarthy, who played Billy Flynn briefly last fall, appeared on Broadway last season as Chieftain Dubhdara in The Pirate Queen. His other Broadway credits include Urinetown, Side Show, Beauty and the Beast, Smile and Zorba.
