Port Authority, a new play by Conor McPherson The Weir, Shining City, The Seafarer, will premiere at the Atlantic Theater Company next month. The limited engagement will run from April 30 through June 15 at the off-Broadway theater. Brian d'Arcy James, John Gallagher Jr. and Jim Norton star.
Directed by Henry Wishcamper, Port Authority weaves the stories of three generations of Irishmen as they experience loss, failure and the elusiveness of love in contemporary Dublin. The play premiered at London's New Ambassadors Theatre in 2001 with Norton in the cast.
D'Arcy James has been seen on Broadway in Blood Brothers, Carousel, Titanic, Sweet Smell of Success Tony Award nomination, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Apple Tree. He most recently starred in the off-Broadway musical Next to Normal and will be seen in the big green title role of this fall's Shrek the Musical. Gallagher received a 2007 Tony Award for his work in the musical Spring Awakening and was also seen on Broadway in the drama Rabbit Hole. Norton is currently starring in McPherson's The Seafarer, for which he earned a 2007 Olivier Award in London, and has appeared on the New York stage previously in Dublin Carol, Juno and the Paycock and The Weir.
Opening night for Port Authority has been set for May 21.
